F-1 visa holders are only eligible to work on campus for up to 20 hours per week while school is in session.
F-1 visa holders at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) are not allowed to work off campus without prior authorization from their international student advisor. Eligibility for off-campus employment is limited to 课程实践训练(CPT) or post-completion 选择性实习训练(选择).
The most important employment issue for an F-1 visa holder to consider is legal (authorized) versus illegal (unauthorized) employment. Make sure you have the necessary employment authorization before you begin work. Contact your international student advisor with questions concerning your eligibility or category of employment.
- You must currently be in valid F-1 status and in good academic standing at Tri-C while engaged in a full course of study,
- You must have completed one academic year of full-time study in order to qualify for 选择 and CPT (not for on-campus employment).
- A student who is out of status is not eligible for F-1 benefits, including employment.
- 一旦雇佣被批准, you must maintain your F-1 status or you will lose your right to continue employment and remain in the U.S.
(SSN). Your student ID number (S-Number) is not a valid Social Security number. Students may apply for a SSN only after they have been offered a job or upon receipt of work authorization.
